USTAD AZIZULLAH AHMADI

Azizullah Ahmadi, the son of Bismillah was born in 1966 in old city, Kabul. In 1973, he began primary school and graduated high school in 1985.  His passion for arts led him to study painting in the Senai Art School in 1988. He organized several national and international exhibitions in the 1990s.

Azizullah Ahmadi's paintings reflect the old artists in style. His sketches tend towards what is known in Realism as "Trompe l'oeil (literally, "fool the eye"), a technique which creates the illusion that the objects depicted actually exist, and is an extreme example of artistic realism." He relates that his style comes from the old painter artists using Classicism and surrealism.

He is known especially for his technique of mixing oil paints with turpentine. When mixed, this gives the appearance of watercolors, creating beautiful fig, light, and shadow. He prefers large, oversized paintings.

He continues to grow as an artist. His paintings of animals over the years demonstrate more accurate dimensions and awe inspiring scenes of horses, lions, tigers, as well as camels. Especially note-worthy are his paintings of the Buddhas destroyed by the Taliban. His paintings are also available for sale at the Bamyan Fine Art Gallery. Visit: www.bamyanfineart.com.
